Check the blog link section for a the World Vision 30 hour Famine link for more general information about the fast!

30 HOUR FAMINE RETREAT
Memphis Conference
Youth Retreat
Lakeshore Camp & Retreat Center

Sr. High Youth
Feb. 29 - March 2, 2008

Matthew 25: 35-40 “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat... Whatever you did for the least of these, you did for me.”

Everyone participating from our group is being called to tell others about how you are going to spend your time Feb. 29-March 2 and raise $90 to $150 to contribute to World Vision that weekend. It takes $90-$179 according to World Vision to feed a child 3-6 months. You can do this by getting sponsors for the fast (every $5, $10 and $20 sponsor goes a long way), you can request to do work projects for friends and neighbors this month for donations, donate money raised for your time offered for the Moonlighters Dance fundraiser . . . let your imagination soar and your heart be the guide.

Some important stuff to know!
This retreat is for Sr. High age youth & will give them an opportunity to grow in their awareness of the hunger and poverty that one billion children experience in God’s world. The 30 hour famine includes fasting from food for 30 hours, participating in thought provoking sessions that remind us that God calls us to share our resources and pray for all God’s children.
All participants should begin fasting at 1:00 p.m. on Friday the 29th. Juice & water will be provided at regular intervals during the fast. Everyone is required to drink plenty of liquids. Saturday evening will be a big one! - Around 6:00 p.m. everyone will gather for a celebration of funds raised for World Vision. Be sure and know the total amount your group has raised so you can report it! We will then move into a Communion Service before we break the fast. After a scrumptious meal (it will taste oh, so good!) get ready to party. Bring your dancing shoes and plan to have a good time. During the dance, CYC will sell glow bracelets so you can shine bright on the dance floor. The canteen will be open for you to purchase drinks & eats. Hey, if dancing ain’t your thing, we will also show a movie.

Arrival time: 3:30 p.m. on Friday

Departure: After lunch on Sunday

What to bring:
Bible, Dancing shoes (woohoo!),
Total of money raised for World Vision, Cooperative Spirit,
Warm clothes, Willingness to have fun!,
