Blessed
One of the sermonettes a youth wrote and preached on Sunday, May 9.
Text: Luke 24:13-35
"Blessed"
Will Naesar
What does it mean to you when you say that you are blessed?
Everyone has their own opinion as to what they are blessed with. Middle Tennessee is a huge blessing to all of us. My Dad told me a story a few days ago. He was answering phone calls for a flood donation program put on by Vince Gill and it was monitored by channel 4. He would answer these phone calls and people would donate money to help with the flood damages across Tennessee. People would have to wait on hold for long periods of time because the phone lines kept tying up. He said there were men and women that had that seemed as if they had never used their credit card before because they were having trouble figuring where the security code was or whether it was Visa or mastercard or another kind.
There were different categories that you could choose to where your money went. For example, Red Cross or another category, and they would say, “Just put it where it is needed most.” These were people that had hardly used their credit card and could maybe use the money more for themselves, that are making these donations. I think that being able to live in this community is a great blessing.
Another thing I think that I am blessed with is able to wake up in the morning on a weekday, take a shower, get dressed, run downstairs and eat a bowl of cereal, have a mother there to make your lunch and father to ask about school, be able to get into my car and drive to school, and go get an education. It’s also being able to go out a Sonic and meet up with friends and hangout and just talk about life in general.
Blessedness is to be part of a community, and to have a family and friends who support me as I graduate high school and to have faith to pursue my dreams.
