Peace of Christ, friends!
Hope the first few days of summer bring you absolute JOY, celebration and many moments of rest.
Below are ways you and your friends can step out and join in God's movement of love alive in the world with BUMC.
1. Simple One Hour Summer Tutoring
This summer our young friends of the Golden Triangle Fellowship will not have the option of summer school to continue growing in basic language and math skills until next school term. The directors of Tutoring Unlimited said it would be helpful if individuals from our community went out to the apartments every now and then with flashcards, books and learning activities to engage groups of kids in simple tutoring.
You are all invited to join Lanecia, youth and other members of Belmont UMC for Simple Summer Tutoring days with the children of the GTF. We will go out to the apartments on Tuesdays and Thursdays this summer to read stories, share in learning activities, create and be in fellowship with the children of the GTF. Drop off and pick up will be at Belmont UMC.
Let Lanecia (lanecia@belmontumc.org) know at least the day before if you plan to attend.

Headquarters located at First Pres Downtown
http://www.nashvillecontributor.org/main/
Wednesday, June 30 (12:30-4:30 pm) and Wednesday, July 28 (12:30-4:30 pm)
Drop Off and Pick Up at Belmont UMC, we will travel to First Pres together
Tasha French, Director and Designer of The Contributor, expressed a need for volunteers to help distribute the new monthly paper that comes out the last Wednesday of each month. We will be stationed at The Contributor's headquarters at First Pres Downtown, where we will help sell papers to the vendors who come to the church to pick up their papers to resell around Nashville.
This will be a great way to help out a worthwhile offering to our city, learn first hand about the work of a small paper in Nashville, listen to the stories of some of our neighbors and participate in a great thing in the lives of so many having a good time in the process.
What is the Contributor?
The Contributor is Nashville’s only street newspaper. We strive to print a monthly paper that accomplishes the following:
- Provides a diversity of perspectives and info on the condition of homelessness while highlighting the contributions of homeless and formerly homeless individuals.
- Provides homeless and formerly homeless vendors with a source of income.
- Creates community between vendors and customers.
“Street Newspaper” is a term for a newspaper that focuses on the issues surrounding homelessness and poverty and is sold by homeless and formerly homeless individuals on the street as an alternative to panhandling.
3. Summer Creativity and Play
with Golden Triangle Fellowship
10am-Noon June 19 and July 24
We, along with youth & the youth pastor of White House UMC, will offer a sports, learning, singing & creative play experience for the children of the Golden Triangle Fellowship and other children in their apartment communities.
4. Mission Nashville
August 1-August 5Newsletter Correction: Church Host Location TBA
Cost: $30
Mission and Creativity week here in Nashville. In the mornings the youth will lead a day camp experience for the children of the GTF.
During the evening each youth participant will have an opportunity to immerse themselves in a form of creative expression, followed by a time of fellowship, rest and preparation for the next day. This is becoming one of the best experiences offered in the Youth Ministries of BUMC, and we hope you will join the offering this summer.
$30, Health & Permission form and Belmont UMC Youth covenant due to Lindsey Grissom by Sunday, June 20.
